STUDENTS AT RISK OF FAILURE POLICY for DIVISION 1/REGISTERED NURSE REGISTRATION PROGRAMS

Assessment of students on clinical placement is competency based. Failure of students to progress through their Clinical Assessment Tool and meet all the competency based assessments will result in the following.

  • A meeting with the Clinical Nurse Supervisor and Course Coordinator.
  • Specific Learning Objectives will be designed by the Clinical Nurse Supervisor in conjunction with the Course Coordinator.
  • Learning Objectives are to be achieved by the student within a set time frame, usually between two and five clinical days.
  • Failure to achieve the learning Objectives will result in the student failing the clinical component of the course.
  • A copy of the Learning outcomes will be filed in the student’s records.

Note: The Accrediting Nurses Board will be contacted in the event a student fails to progress through their Clinical Assessment Tool to meet the requirements of assessment.
